After a back and forth fight, Juan Manuel Lopez knocked out Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. in the 11th round and began fighting Vasquez’s cornerman right after.

Two Puerto Rican rivals were finally able to settle the score on Saturday night. After a back and forth brawl between the two, Juan Manuel Lopez knocked out Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. in the 11th round. It was an entertaining fight, but it was what happened after the knockout that was even more bizarre.

Shortly after the end of the fight, Lopez starting exchanging blows with one of Vasquez’s cornermen. We’ve seen crazy post-fight altercations before, such as Jason “Mayhem” Miller against Jake Shields and his whole posse. But, this took it to the next level.

ESPN has the video of the brawl between Lopez and Vasquez’s cornerman.

Watching this brawl between Lopez and the cornerman was shocking, but it definitely wasn’t a surprise. Animosity between the two opposing fighters had been building for quite some time now. At the pre-fight press conference, the two exchanged some words and eventually got physical.

This forced the promotion to not only separate them, but take extreme measures with security come fight night. After the fight though, the two embraced each other and seemed to have earned each other’s respect. That’s really what this sport is all about.

Prior to this bout, Lopez was riding a two-fight losing streak and hadn’t stepped back in the ring in two years. Early on in the fight, Lopez was getting beat by Vasquez Jr. He was slower, wasn’t showing the power that he usually possesses, and was getting picked apart.
