In a battle between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook first blocked Kevin Durant, who returned the favor with one of his own.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant’s relationship, or lack thereof, has been chronicled for months. It started with Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors, and continued with quotes in the media or subtle shots.

On Thursday night, Durant and Westbrook finally got the opportunity to go head to head with each other. It had been a media circus in the days prior, so there was plenty of hype surrounding this game from Oracle Arena.

Durant and Westbrook interacting at any point in the game would be something to watch for. Through the first quarter, this didn’t happen, but a majority of the way through the second, they met and did so in a big game.

First, as Durant went for a shot near the rim, Westbrook blocked him from behind. However, at the other end of the court, KD returned the favor and stuffed the star point guard’s attempt as well.

An incredible sequence that is terrific for this rivalry, if you want to call it one.

At halftime, the Warriors led, 66-43. Durant led the way with 29 points and was on fire throughout the second. He looked unstoppable, gaining momentum with every shot, and especially after that block on his former teammate.
