After missing last week’s game, LeSean McCoy is in line to be back leading the Buffalo Bills’ backfield on Monday night.

After being rendered useless (eight carries for 11 yards) by a hamstring injury the previous game, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy missed last week’s loss to the New England Patriots. An extra day between games seems to have helped his recovery, and McCoy is expected to play Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

Even with two games essentially out of the mix, and having yet to play Week 9, McCoy is still 10th in the NFL in rushing (598 yards) right now. Among qualified rushers he’s second in yards per carry (5.3) and fifth in yards per game (85.4). Add in his contributions as a pass catcher, with 20 receptions and a touchdown so far this season, and you have the driving force for Buffalo’s offense.

Mike Gillislee started in McCoy’s place against the Patriots and had a productive game, with 12 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown along with three receptions, but any situation that puts Reggie Bush into any sort of bigger role is not great for the Bills. McCoy’s return should put things back in order Monday night.

The Seahawks have a top 10 defense in the league across the board, so having all possible hands on deck offensively will be important for Buffalo on Monday night. An injury-thinned group of wide receivers remains, though Robert Woods (foot) is expected to play, so McCoy should be very busy as long he remains on track to play. That is very good news for Buffalo, which is coming off back-to-back losses.
