Love him or hate him, Cris Collinsworth just ended Bill Simmons on Twitter.

Cris Collinsworth is one of the more polarizing broadcasters covering the National Football League. Over the years, he has been lampooned for his “aw-shucks” style of commentary, but a deeper analysis consistently shows that he is actually one of the more factually-correct broadcasters in the league. Collinsworth has won five Emmys for his work, and is also widely praised by his fellow media members.

The facts would obviously point towards Collinsworth being one of the best, most-prepared commentators covering the NFL, but the critics remain, including sports media’s number-one bad boy, Bill Simmons.

Apparently, Collinsworth actually does scroll through his Twitter mentions, no matter how subtweeted they may be.

Collinsworth has since deleted the tweet, but damn…there are not enough fire emojis to measure the amount of aloe Simmons will need to recover from this sick burn. For those who have forgotten, Simmons’ new show, Any Given Wednesday on HBO was going to totally redefine what a sports talk show could be. Simmons found out the hard way that the entire country does not, in fact, need more of his Boston schtick mixed in with a few pop culture references. Did we really need a chemically-enhanced Ben Affleck ranting on Deflategate? /

Best wishes to Simmons as he attempts to pull himself up from the first big failure of his career in sports media, and more importantly, unzip the body bag in which he was just placed. As for Collinsworth, he most likely just gained hundreds of new fans who have grown tired of Simmons. There may still be holes in the former wide receiver’s game as a broadcaster, but his Twitter game is firing on all cylinders.
