Fort Wayne fans storm the court after Indiana upset (Video)

In one of the biggest upsets of the early college basketball season, Fort Wayne took down Indiana on Tuesday, and the fans stormed the court.
The third-ranked Indiana Hoosiers were supposed to make quick work of the Fort Wayne Mastodons on Tuesday night, but instead, they suffered one of the worst upsets of the 2016-17 college basketball season. The Mastodons needed overtime to do it, but in the end, they beat the heavily favored Hoosiers by three points, in what is by far the biggest win in program history. Indiana had come into the game unblemished, but had to leave an embarrassed squad.
What makes the upset even more incredible was how well Indiana had been playing coming into the game. They beat then-third ranked Kansas to start the season, before thrashing UMass Lowell and Liberty prior to playing Fort Wayne. Defeating the Mastodons was supposed to be a formality, but now the Hoosiers will have to go back to the drawing board before playing Mississippi Valley State on November 27.
In what will certainly go down as a historic Indiana Classic, Fort Wayne actually went into the half leading the Hoosiers by two points. Indiana was able to force the game into an extra frame, but Fort Wayne was just the better team on this night. Once the final buzzer sounded, the home crowd rushed the court, as bedlam ensued inside Allen County War Memorial Stadium.
Junior Bryson Scott led the Mastadons with 18 points, connecting on 8 of 16 shooting from the field. The Mastadon defense hounded the Hoosiers all night long, forcing one of the best teams in the country to turn the ball over 15 times. Indiana was led by sophomore center Thomas Bryant, who matched Scott 18 points of his own.

While this will definitely be the highlight of Fort Wayne’s season, the Hoosiers will likely shake this one off and continue their quest to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Still, the game was a classic display of how any team can win on any given day.
