The North Texas Mean Green lost the Heart of Dallas Bowl in overtime, but running back Jeffrey Wilson lost a bit more than that earlier in the game.

The North Texas Mean Green had a solid turnaround this season, from a 1-11 season in 2015 to five wins and taking advantage of the over-saturation of bowl games by earning a bowl bid in Seth Littrell’s first season as head coach.

The Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl was a close trip for the team and surely many Mean Green fans, from the North Texas campus in Denton to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. But the Mean Green ultimately fell short of victory on Tuesday, losing 38-31 to the Army Black Knights in overtime.

During the first half of the game, North Texas running back Jeffrey Wilson vomited on the field on back-to-back plays. Quarterback Alec Morris was clearly distracted by his running back on the second play, forgetting to reel the ball in after it was snapped. You can watch a video of the play below, but be warned that it’s pretty gross.

Wilson got an IV at halftime, and returned for the second half without apparent incident. The junior running back finished the game with a team-high 20 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown, while adding six receptions for 46 yards and another score. Morris had a mostly excellent game outside of his blunder on the shotgun snap after Wilson vomited the second time, as the Alabama graduate transfer finished 26-for-38 for 304 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

It’s definitely cold and flu season in many places, with winter finally taking hold around the United States. Wilson seems to have fallen victim to it, in a very public setting with television cameras to capture an embarrassing moments. But he got re-hydrated and was able to keep playing, and hopefully the progress to good health continues for Wilson.
