Here’s what you need to know for the AFC Wild Card game between the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers.
By the time this game comes around, we will already know one AFC Wild Card winner. The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers have punched their ticket for the playoffs, eyeing a shot at Super Bowl LI in Houston.
The Dolphins have a win over the Steelers already this year, but it was in Miami and the temperatures were a little more favorable for them. This time they head to Pittsburgh, where the temps won’t be as tropical, they’re a little banged up, and Pittsburgh’s main starters just had a week off to prepare.
The Steelers do have a small bone to pick from that October game, which was part of Miami’s nine-game hot streak, in which Ben Roethlisberger went down with a knee injury. This time around, he’s focused, and with all of the quarterback issues around the league right now, he may be the best solid and healthy quarterback in the AFC outside of that guy in New England.
Miami is making their first trip to the postseason since 2008, and looking for their first playoff win since 2000. The Steelers have won just one playoff game since the start of the 2011 season. So both teams have a lot riding on this game.

We do know this. Pittsburgh is the highest ranked Wild Card seed, and Miami is the lowest seed in the AFC. A win by Pittsburgh would send it to Kansas City. If Miami could pull it off, it would have to travel to New England. This game will also depend on the Texans-Raiders game to see who goes where.
