Lucifer returns with part one of a three-story arc, beginning with season 2 episode 11’s “Stewardess Interruptus.”

Lucifer begins exactly where it left off.

Lucifer and Chloe look like they’re about to share an intimate kiss. They’re holding hands and he apologizes for forgetting the ketchup. That’s when they’re interrupted by the elevator, and a stewardess named Jana who starts undressing as soon as she gets over to the couch. Chloe moves to leave and Lucifer tries to apologize for everything. He insists that he wants her to stay, but she says that Jana probably kept her from making a mistake. After she leaves he tells Jana she’s grounded.

Chloe makes breakfast for Trixie, who would prefer cereal over eggs. Trixie asks if they had a date with flowers and “naked stuff” because Chloe’s cheeks are getting red. Maze hurries in and shows Chloe the headline that says Chloe’s father’s killer was found dead. Maze doesn’t understand why Chloe isn’t more excited than she is. When Chloe tells her that the person who killed him is no better than the killer himself, Maze furiously pours vodka onto her cereal and stews over all the work she put in to exact revenge for Chloe.

Charlotte finds Lucifer, who tells her that he doesn’t want hot women showing up anymore without an invitation. She says she has news, and it’s about Chloe. She tells Lucifer that she was wrong about Chloe, that she tried to make Chloe turn on him, and now she understands what he sees in her. Lucifer says he destroyed everything on his own, thanks to a case of stewardess interruptus. Charlotte says that maybe it’s time that Lucifer proves himself to Chloe.

Lucifer tries to explain that to Chloe but she doesn’t want to hear it. He says they had a moment together and will never lay eyes on the flight attendant again. Of course, as they approach their newest crime scene, they find Jana’s dead body there. Talk about a case of bad timing. Chloe inspects the evidence and doesn’t think it looks like a mugging. She apologizes that his friend was killed, but he says they barely knew each other. He says he went to the bar after Jana left. Chloe believes Lucifer’s story, but she wants to establish the timeline of her death. They find her phone and it looks like she was being threatened.

Dan tracked her number and says that it was from a guy in Silicon Valley. He finds Maze at his desk and she gloats about the killer’s death. She’s there to get her check but she wants to celebrate with Dan. He says they can’t be seen together until everything blows over. This also makes her unhappy.

Chloe arrives at a pool party to find the man who contacted Jana. She finds Lucifer in a white linen suit. She thinks the party is Lucifer’s cup of tea while she’d prefer reading Trixie a book. She asks around for Andy and finds him sunning himself. He thinks it’s a joke, and he’s clearly a stuck up guy who only called her to get a booty call. He has an alibi, because he was having sex all night. Chloe says that Lucifer and Andy have a lot in common. They get a message that there has been another murder similar to Jana’s.

Dan says that the victim had been in the shower when he died. Chloe thinks that they don’t match, but Lucifer admits that he had also slept with poor Raj. Chloe thinks that his exes are a problem, including Charlotte. He tells her he never slept with Charlotte. They decide that they need to talk to everyone Lucifer slept with in the past eight week.

All of the women line up at the station and Chloe interviews them all while Dan marvels at Lucifer’s libido. He and Dan listen into the questioning and Dan is absolutely stunned at what they hear. Every one of the women says that Lucifer was amazing and he did all kinds of things. Chloe wants to know if Lucifer ever did anything special for them, like bring a burger or fries. It turns out that he only ever did that for her. They all say it was all about the sex and completely meaningless. Dan sees that Lucifer is hurt by this and he says that it means there is no motive.

Charlotte is the last one to show up, and both Dan and Lucifer are shocked to see her. Charlotte confronts Chloe and says that she was indeed worthy of him. She says that Chloe is different, and he’s different when he’s around her. Lucifer demands that Dan never sleep with Charlotte again. He doesn’t need a stepdad. “You say some weird things,” Dan says.

Maze has a session with Dr. Linda and wants to know if she ever gets upset when she does things for other people and no one notices. Linda tells her that she needs to believe in her self-worth and believe in her awesomeness.

Chloe finds that all of the women describe a woman who gave a death stare at Lux. Her name is Sookie. Inside her apartment she has hundreds of photos of Lucifer with the women and men he was with. There are also voodoo dolls that resemble Lucifer. Chloe is also on the wall. The toilet flushes and a young woman walks out. She sees Lucifer and panics, spraying air freshener into the bathroom. They’ve never slept together, but she thinks Lucifer is the perfect man. She doesn’t know anything about the murders, but she has all of his lovers categorized and it turns out that Jana and Raj knew each other. There’s a pilot in one of the photos so they go off to talk to him. Lucifer hurries out because Sookie creeps him out.

Charlotte’s assistant serves coffee to Amenadiel. She says that espresso is as good as sex. He says that Charlotte is trying to drive a wedge between them but she says he’s trying to fix everything. Once they’re all home she will fix everything.

Dan says that the pilot, Tim, has a record for drugs and assault. He recently flew with Jana and he’s probably flying drugs. Lucifer drives his car onto the tarmac and catches up to the plane, stopping it from taking off. When Tim gets out, he’s thankful she’s a cop because he thinks someone is trying to kill him. His two closest friends were murdered and he thinks that a man named Burt was the guy behind the smuggling. He has been trying to turn his life around but on the last trip a package went missing and that’s what put the target on his back. Lucifer says they should set something up using a new flight attendant to lure Burt.

Chloe finds Maze and recruits her for the job. Maze says she’ll do it because she’s awesome, and she likes roughing people up before the cops arrive. Chloe rolls her eyes. Maze leaves to get ready—she has to get an outfit together that’s appropriate for the job.

As Lucifer gets ready he has a visit from Amenadiel. Lucifer asks his brother if he’s boyfriend material. Amenadiel says that Lucifer has never gotten close to anyone and he wants to know if this is about Chloe. Amenadiel says that when it comes to Chloe he has been underestimating himself. He says Lucifer should ask himself if he’s worthy for her.

Dan checks his wire as Maze arrives at the club. She says Dan should flirt with her and she puts his hand on her knee. She says he needs to own up to what he did. She blurts out that Dan slept with Charlotte, which shocks Chloe. She tells Lucifer that they made a mistake and there is no relationship. She tells Lucifer to step outside so he leaves.

Burt finds Maze, who flirts with him. They leave for the hotel room and Maze plays around with him until she kicks into attack mode and pins him to the wall. He admits that he’s not Burt, and that Burt told him to say that. As it turns out, Burt is outside with a gun to Lucifer’s head.

Chloe and Dan find Maze in the hotel room. She wants to keep the bait, and the bait tells them that Burt saw someone in a dark suit and took off.

Outside, Burt wants his package and he thinks Jana dropped it off with Lucifer that night. When he calls her a “stupid bitch” Lucifer grabs the gun and says that he made promises to Jana that were all lies. He says Burt is a bad man, but Lucifer is much worse. He lets his Devil face out, which terrifies Burt long enough for Chloe and Dan to arrive. Lucifer stalks away but Chloe wonders where the drugs are.

At the airplane hangar, Andy stumbles toward the plane. A man dressed in black approaches as Andy says he thought it was drugs but it was a bunch of vials. One of them broke and now he’s sick.

Lucifer stands on the beach when Chloe catches up to him. She wants to finish the paperwork and he says that he’s realized it would never work between them. He thinks she deserves someone worthy of her, someone who is better and selfless like she is. He says that she’s always putting Trixie first, someone who appreciates how good she is. She’s special, he says. He’s not worth it. He’s not worthy of her.

“Yeah, you’re probably right,” she says, approaching him for a kiss.

They kiss, and he stares at her in wonder.

“Detective,” he breathes.
