An amazing career came to an end on Tuesday night, as Brent Musburger signed off for the final time

Throughout history, there have been few better announcers in all of sports than Brent Musburger. No matter what sport he was calling, you knew that you were about to hear some of the greatest commentary from one of the best to ever put a headset on.

But just like everything in life, all good things must come to an end. And that’s exactly what happened for Musburger on Tuesday night, as he called the final sporting event of his illustrious career. It was a doozy too, as he called a thrilling overtime SEC basketball game between Kentucky and Georgia, a game in which the Wildcats were able to survive and avoid a dreaded three-game losing streak.

Following the action, ESPN aired what was an awesome video chronicling the career of one of the greatest announcers that the sports world has ever seen. After that video aired, Musburger had one final message for all of us who have sat back and enjoyed his work for all these years.

This is truly an amazing human being and we’re all better off for having had the privilege to listen to his calls throughout the years. For someone as myself who’s past the age of 30, I’ve heard a lot of these and they will be embedded in my memory bank for the rest of my life.

Now, though, it’s time for Musburger to sit back and enjoy life, a life that will include him being in the one place that we all know he loves the most — Las Vegas.

Have a ball, Uncle Brent! You’ve earned it.
