Although Fire Emblem Heroes has been available for less than a week, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have already announced plans for more content.

Fire Emblem Heroes rushed onto the App Store and Google Play just last week on Thursday. However, certain players have already finished significant portions of the game, including moving up to the Hard and Lunatic modes. With a game like this, though, content is king, especially to keep that money flowing as players shell out for more Orbs to score those sweet five-star characters.

Fortunately, it appears as though Nintendo has learned that this is important. IGN, speaking to the game’s director Kouhei Maeda, reports that current plans include releasing new stories every two weeks or so. Additionally, new modes may soon appear. Right now, with the Training Tower and Arena, players can already power-level new characters and face off against others. What could be next? A mode allowing for friends to train against each other or even work together on larger maps? Team play could be hard to coordinate but could end up encouraging new people to download the app.

Furthermore, Maeda mentioned new characters and skills should also arrive. Presumably, Heroes will start by adding in new worlds representing games like Path of Radiance as well as Genealogy of the Holy War or even Thracia 776. If we had to guessPath of Radiance and its sequel, Radiant Dawn, would likely get the nod first. The games’ main character, Ike, features in both Super Smash Bros Brawl and for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, so he’d be an easy way to appeal to people who weren’t wooed by Marth, Roy, Lucina, Robin or Corrin.

Based on those statements, we suspect an update may hit around Feb. 15. That’s the last date the current summoning pools will be available. Why not refresh the summoning pool and add in new maps as well for a one-two punch?

It also sounds as though Nintendo won’t give up on the game soon, if the above mentioned commitments don’t tip you off. IGN reports that Shingo Matsushita, a game director at Nintendo, has said that they will support the game as long as players do.
