Could a trade save Jahlil Okafor and Brandon Knight?

With the NBA trade deadline looming next week, now is the time to get your last minute fake trade ideas floated. Some names and scenarios have been proposed so frequently that it is presumed something will eventually happen (see: Toronto Raptors/power forward). The same goes for certain players that have found themselves outside of the rotation and not a part of their team’s futures, and thus ripe to be moved.

Two of those players are Jahlil Okafor and Brandon Knight. Despite being the 3rd pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Okafor has been the odd man out of the Philadephia 76ers’ frontcourt and doesn’t appear to be a part of The Process going forward. Brandon Knight signed an extension in Phoenix, averaged 19.6 points per game last year as a 24-year-old, but is currently relegated to the bench and has recently been losing playing time to Tyler Ulis. Could a change of scenery be just what both players need to rehabilitate their careers? With their perceived values so low, which teams might take a chance on them?

To talk about this and other trades both real and fake, Josh Eberley (@josheberley) joins Fastbreak Breakfast. Josh writes for the NBA’s Hoop Magazine and also enjoys his pancakes in a not-traditional manner. He floats several hypothetical trade ideas, including a blockbuster involving Jimmy Butler and Okafor. Would the 76ers be ready to start building for the immediate and cash in some of their assets? Could the Chicago Bulls finally pull the plug and attempt a rebuild?

Also covered is a review of the trade between the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets involving Mason Plumlee and Jusuf Nurkic.
