On Sunday night, Kevin Owens and Goldberg closed out WWE Fastlane for the WWE Universal Championship. It had been hyped for almost one month, ever since Chris Jericho accepted the match for Owens in February.

Well, these two would finally meet up after a long war of words. Who came out on top with the title?

This had a big fight feel to it, which is great. Goldberg appearances have felt important since the day he returned to WWE, so this worked well into Sunday night’s anticipation. Given everything else that took place before this, something like the Universal Championship match was needed.

Owens played mind games with Goldberg for about five minutes. He went in and out of the ring trying to waste time. In fact, that would be the case, because when KO entered the ring, Chris Jericho’s music played just as the bell rang. Goldberg speared and jackhammered the champion, got the pin, and won the belt.

Now Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 was already set. However, it will now have the Universal Championship on the line. A main event spot for these two wouldn’t be surprising, unless WWE is serious about Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton taking it.

With Owens, his seven-month title reign came to an end in 20 seconds. It’s a controversial finish to a main roster star’s long run with the belt, which will turn some heads in the process. He’s likely getting Jericho at WrestleMania, but should it have been for the top title of Raw?
