Interest in free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt is ramping up, and the Dallas Cowboys are now in the mix.

Most of the  news and speculation around the Dallas Cowboys this week is centered on quarterback Tony Romo, and where he will ultimately land this offseason. But they are in line to lose a lot of their internal free agents, including wide receiver Terrance Williams. That will leave a void opposite Dez Bryant, and major need for a No. 2 wide receiver.

Kenny Britt is coming off the best season of his career in 2016, with career-highs in receptions (68) and yards (1,002) with five touchdowns for the Los Angeles Rams. Given the lackluster quality of quarterbacking with that team last season, Britt is surely looking forward to hitting the free agent market this week.

The Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers already have reported interest in Britt, and a return to the Rams has seemingly been written off. But a list of suitors that is sure to keep growing has added an intriguing team.

Assuming Romo is gone, and regardless of how an inevitable release is handled in regard to the salary cap, the Cowboys don’t have a lot of money to play with in free agency. That would seem to be the top reason Williams and others will ultimately sign elsewhere, while also leaving Dallas out of the high end of the market.

Britt should absolutely prioritize getting a big free agent pay day if he can, and the 49ers with their ample salary cap space can make a substantial offer if they want to. The Cowboys clearly can’t compete with that, and the Eagles are only in slightly better salary cap position right now.
