Anthony Davis (wrist) to play Saturday vs. Hornets
After a scary fall that yielded yet another injury, Anthony Davis will be available for the New Orleans Pelicans’ next game.
Late in the first half of Wednesday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors, Anthony Davis gave the New Orleans Pelicans another injury scare. He was dangerously fouled by Raptors guard Norman Powell while going up for an alley, hitting his left wrist on the rim before taking a very hard fall.
Davis did not play in the second half of Wednesday night’s loss, though x-rays on his wrist after the game were negative. Ultimately, a bruised left wrist was the diagnosis for Davis.
A lengthy absence is fortunately not in the cards for Davis, as the Pelicans try to stay anywhere near the Western Conference playoff race, but his status for Saturday night’s road game against the Charlotte Hornets was up in the air. After Friday’s practice, some good news came from Pelicans’ head coach Alvin Gentry.
Davis went through a full practice on Friday, apparently without incident, and he will play against the Hornets Saturday night. He has missed all or part of 15 games this season, but Davis will be in the lineup and looking to figure out how to co-exist with DeMarcus Cousins without immediately adding to that missed time.

With Davis and Cousins both on the floor since the latter was acquired from the Sacramento Kings, the Pelicans have a record of 1-6 with a second win in a game Cousins was suspended for on Mar. 1 due to his 18th technical foul of the season. It may take until next year for the two big men to function together well, as hope fades for legitimate impact in the win-loss column this season.
