After signing Mike Glennon to take over at quarterback, the Chicago Bears have added a new target for him.

The Chicago Bears have made a change at quarterback, signing Mike Glennon in free agency and cutting Jay Cutler. The departure of Alshon Jeffery in free agency and the expected release of Eddie Royal will bring new faces at wide receiver too, and former Pittsburgh Steeler Markus Wheaton has reportedly been signed to a two-year deal.

Now, another wide receiver is coming to the Windy City. According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, the Bears have agreed to terms with Kendall Wright on a one-year deal worth up to $4 million.

Wright spent his first five NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans. But he’s coming off back-to-back dismal campaigns, including a career-low 29 catches last season over 11 games. Tennessee had little use for someone head coach Mike Mularkey deemed a “very good slot receiver,” and Wright inevitably said he felt free when the 2016 season was over.

Wright had at least 57 receptions in each of his first three NFL seasons, including a breakout 2013 campaign when he had 94 catches for 1,079 yards. With the Bears, he should have a prominent role again.

With Jeffery gone, Chicago is in line to rely on 2015 first-round pick Kevin White and Cameron Meredith as their top two wide receivers. But White has only played in four games over his first two seasons, due to multiple leg injuries, and Meredith will be challenged to build on his breakout 2016 season (66 receptions or 888 yards) with a year of game tape for defenses to study.

Wright may not be anointed as the Bears’ No.1 wide receiver, but it’s easy to bet on him leading the team in targets and catches in 2017. He has obviously fallen off the radar over the last couple years, but I like Wright as an early fantasy sleeper in his new landing spot.
