Is Powerless new tonight, March 16?

Will there be a new episode of NBC’s Powerless on Thursday, March 16?

What started out as a tepid attempt by DC Comics to make a sitcom has only gained steam and increased in quality with each passing week. NBC’s Powerless has improved and become more enjoyable with with each episode, perhaps the best and most enjoyable being the latest, episode 5 entitled “Cold Season.”

Starring Vanessa Hudgens as Emily Locke, Powerless isn’t short on comedic star-power. Alan Tudyk’s Van Wayne continues to be an intriguing and predictably hilarious character. Moreover, the Wayne Security team of Ron (Ron Funches), Teddy (Dani Pudi) and Jackie (Christina Kirk) are all delightfully quirky and seem to mesh better after each 30-minute installment.

Much of the increase in quality as the season has progressed is due to everything starting to feel more natural. Yes, that’s a weird thing to say for a show set in the fictional Charm City and that has featured Emily dating one of The Riddler’s henchman in an episode. However, the dialogue in the pilot episode of Powerless was painfully forced, overly full of exposition and jokes that were trying entirely too hard. That’s the nature of pilots, but it was especially bad with this show.

Since then, though, the show-writers have found a groove. Now, Powerless features both plot-lines and dialogue that are both homages to comic book fans and enjoyable experiences for those who aren’t. That’s a positive sign for where the show’s headed, and the hope would be that NBC’s show will now gain more traction and viewership as word spreads.

With the show’s improvement, fans are now looking forward to each episode. But during a busy week, is there going to be a new episode on Thursday, March 16? Unfortunately not. In fact, there won’t even be a re-run of Powerless during NBC’s 8:30 p.m. ET time-slot. Luckily, though, the show will return with episode 6 next week on March 23.
