Updated 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket: Mississippi State, Stanford advance to Final Four
An updated 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket after Mississippi State and Stanford both won in upsets to advance to the Final Four
As the 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket advanced to the Elite Eight, it stood in contrast to that of the men’s tourney. All four No. 1 seeds were still alive, but there were also two No. 2 seeds, a No. 3 seed and then the lone remaining cinderella in No. 10 seed Oregon. On Sunday night, though, it was two matchups between the top-two seeds in each region.
First off for the day was the No. 1-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish taking on the Stanford Cardinal. What transpired was a fantastic game that went back-and-forth throughout. And by throughout, that also means that it went down to the wire. As the final buzzer sounded, though, it was the second-seeded Cardinal that emerged with the one-point victory, moving to the Final Four.
The second game of the night featured the Baylor Bears as the No. 1 seed going up agains the Mississippi State Bulldogs. They had a tough act to follow, but they did so and more.

On the back of the smallest player on the floor, Morgan William, Mississippi State pushed Baylor all game. The Bulldogs and Bears went to overtime, where William continued her strong effort. Ultimately, Baylor didn’t have enough to contend with the guard and Mississippi State advanced to the Final Four.
