The 2017 NBA Playoffs are about to begin. Sixteen teams will have their shot at winning an NBA Championship. So when do the 2017 NBA Finals begin?

It’s playoff time in the NBA. Sixteen teams will be playing for the Larry O’Brien Trophy this spring. Many of these teams will inevitably fall to the wayside in the coming weeks, but they all have their eyes on reaching the 2017 NBA Finals. When are the NBA Finals? When do they begin?

As it is every year, the NBA Finals will begin in June after the three previous rounds of the NBA Playoffs have run their course. This year, the 2017 NBA Finals will begin on Thursday, Jun. 1. ESPN/ABC will be the broadcasting company that will be bringing you all the games.

Though there have been a handful of teams that have been pleasant surprises this season, die-hard NBA fans are clamoring for the third straight NBA Finals to feature the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

LeBron James has made it to six straight NBA Finals since 2011. He took the Miami Heat to four straight from 2011 to 2014, winning it all in 2012 and 2013. Since going back to Cleveland in 2014-15, he has met Golden State in the Finals out of the West.

Golden State went from being eliminated in the first round of the 2014 Western Conference Playoffs to winning it all in 2015 over Cleveland in six games. 2016 had a different narrative to it, as the Cavaliers were able to overcome a 3-1 deficit to shock the 73-win Warriors to win their first NBA Championship in franchise history.

Though NBA fans are hoping for a third meeting between these two behemoths, there are other teams that can crash the NBA Finals party. Out of the East, Cleveland has to keep an eye on the Boston Celtics, the Toronto Raptors and the Washington Wizards. Golden State needs to deal with the likes of the Houston Rockets, the San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz.
