Bruno Mars “That’s What I Like” is spectacularly parodied in “That Spidey Life.”

Bruno Mars is one of the biggest pop stars in the world. He has dozens of hits including several from his latest album, 24K Magic. And like any popular artist, his songs are pretty rife for parody.

Though maybe somebody didn’t expect something this amazing and spectacular. You see, we are only a few months away from the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Apparently the folks over at Nerdist figured that Spider-Man is a superhero who would take well to the stylings of Bruno Mars, so they made a pretty cool video called “That Spidey Life.”

“That Spidey Life” is a parody of Mars’ recently released video for “That’s What I Like.” At first it seems a really odd pairing. And it kind of is, but it still works.

While Bruno Mars’ song is about giving a woman everything she wants, which he happens to like, “That Spidey Life” is all about the stuff Peter Parker has gone through leading up to the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Check out the video below, conveniently followed by Bruno Mars video for “That’s What I like” for an easy comparison:

I think it’s really creative and fun,  but I do have one teeny tiny issue. Spider-Man is a giant dork. It’s part of his appeal. Bruno Mars’ image is all about how smooth he is, and this video is Spidey trying to ape that smoothness.

Spider-Man, even in his best moments, is never smooth. It actually could’ve been even better if the video was Spider-Man trying to be smooth and failing in the most spectacular way only a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man can. Still, it makes me wonder if we’ll see something along these lines for Thor: Ragnarok a little closer to its release …
