Giancarlo Stanton broke a home run drought on Saturday, and he has followed up with two lengthy blasts on Sunday.

Miami Marlins’ outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is no stranger to hitting long home runs, but he had not hit a home run at all since April 22 when he took Mets’ starter Robert Gsellman deep on Saturday. With that drought behind him, Stanton could be starting to find a groove again.

With scheduled starter Matt Harvey suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules, the Mets were forced to press Adam Wilk into duty. In the top of the first inning, with two men on, Stanton promptly and rudely greeted the left-hander.

Stanton’s upper deck three-run shot measured at 425 feet (via ESPN Stats and Info), and in the top of the third inning off Wilk he offered a more than worthy encore.

Stanton’s 468-foot blast down the left field line gave Miami a 4-0 lead, and also set some history at Citi Field.

Stanton did not make it three home runs in as many trips to the plate in the top of the fifth inning, with a pop out to second base against Mets’ reliever Paul Sewald. But he should have at least one more at-bat in the game, so there’s still a chance for a third tape measure home run during Stanton’s Sunday afternoon in Queens.
