Physical issues have taken their toll on Tiger Woods in recent years, but now he’s got an off-course issue to deal with.

According to WPTV in West Palm Beach and multiple other outlets, Tiger Woods was arrested on DUI charges early Monday morning in Jupiter, Florida. He was reportedly taken into custody at 3 a.m., and Palm Beach County jail records indicate he was released at 10:50 a.m.

Since a well-publicized incident with his now ex-wife back in 2009, and subsequent details of his infidelity, Woods has avoided trouble off the golf course. But ongoing physical issues have kept from playing at all on a regular basis, and limited his ability to play well for any prolonged stretch when he has been able to play.

WPTV has now released Woods’ mugshot after his arrest.

That mugshot is about what you’d expect someone to look like at 3 a.m., I suppose, with or without alcohol as a factor.

Terri Parker of WPBF-TV posted more detailed information on Woods’ arrest.

Woods had hoped to make a comeback this year, but persistent back injuries, and several surgeries, have prevented him from playing. The last time he won a major was way back in 2008, at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Some are beginning to wonder whether we’ll ever see Tiger compete at that level again. His chances of breaking Jack Nicklaus’ majors record have all but disappeared.

If and when Woods is physically able to play golf again, it’s unclear if this DUI arrest will have any affect on his status. A suspension from the PGA Tour could come, due to the bad headlines this arrest has generated, but if Woods isn’t able to play soon it may not matter. Posting bail was obviously not an issue for him, but let’s hope Woods has learned a lesson anyway.
