Jason Day rocking Cavaliers themed spikes at The Memorial
Jason Day is an adopted Ohioan, so he’s showing his NBA Finals rooting interest at The Memorial this week.
The NBA Finals start in Oakland on Thursday night, with part three of consecutive title series clashes between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. The PGA tour is in Dublin, Ohio this week for The Memorial, at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Muirfield Village.
Jason Day is a native of Australia, but he met his wife in Ohio and makes his home there now. As could be expected, Day has a clear rooting interest for the NBA Finals and he’s putting it on display when he tees it up this week.

Day also got a pair for Cavaliers’ guard J.R. Smith, who responded enthusiastically on Twitter.
Day will enjoy a bit of a home course advantage this week, as a member at Muirfield Village. He is in the afternoon group of tee times for Thursday’s first round, as part a group with Adam Scott and 2017 PLAYERS Champion Si Woo Kim that will also be together on Friday. But Day did say he had not played the course this year until a practice round on Wednesday.
Day has fallen from No. 1 in the World Ranking to No. 3, and he has not won a tournament in over a year. But he is coming off a loss in a playoff to Billy Horschel at the AT&T Byron Nelson a couple weeks ago, highlighted by a chip-in for birdie late in the final round, so Day may carry some of that positive momentum into this week. That said, his best finish is tied for 27th (twice) in eight career starts at The Memorial.

No matter how Day plays this week on his home course, he’ll be sporting some cool footwear and broadcasting his NBA allegiance.
