Crystal Palace are close to appointing a new manager heading into the 2017-18 Premier League season, with reports that Frank de Boer is set to take over at Selhurst Park.

Reports are coming out that Frank de Boer is set to be the next manager of Crystal Palace. After Sam Allardyce resigned after just five short months in charge, the search began. If Frank de Boer is hired, he will be the third manager for Crystal Palace since Jan. 2, 2015.

Frank de Boer was last in charge of Inter Milan, managing the Serie A side from August 2016 to November 2016. In his 14 Serie A matches in charge, de Boer had a record of 5-2-7.

Before taking over at Inter, de Boer was in charge of Eridivisie side Ajax from December of 2010 to May of 2016. He was in charge of Ajax for 262 league games, winning 158 of those games during his time in the Netherlands.

While in charge of Ajax, Frank de Boer won four successive Eridivisie titles over the first four seasons in charge. It was due to his success during this time that he won the Rinus Michels Award, awarded annually to the manager of the year in the Netherlands.

Before de Boer got his start as a manager, he was well-known as a player himself. Playing the majority of his career at center-back, he was a staple on the back line for the Netherlands national side, as well as Ajax and Barcelona.

During his playing days with Ajax, de Boer played in 328 league matches and scored 30 goals. An impressive output for someone who spent his career playing in defense. He then moved on to play for Barcelona over the course of 144 league games, scoring five goals in his time with the Catalan giants. He made 519 appearances in multiple leagues for six different clubs, and earned 112 senior caps for the Netherlands.
