Vince Carter would consider taking less money to play for a team like the Golden State Warriors next season.

The Golden State Warriors is this era’s dream team. Ever since Steve Kerr stepped in as head coach and led them to an NBA championship three seasons ago, they have been the team that many players are in awe of. The Warriors play team basketball, despite having multiple stars on the team, they are good on both ends of the floor, and most importantly, they win while having fun.

This is why some of the older players are willing to take a pay cut to join them. They get a chance to play and a chance to be champions.

Vince Carter, who was on ESPN’s The Jump on Wednesday, said that he would be “open” to taking less money to play for the Warriors (or another title contending team).

Per Slam:

"“I’m open for it. I want to win when I play. I want to do somewhat what Kevin Durant did. I want to do for my team.“I want to go out there and play and provide and show that I can still play this game.”"

Carter, who turned 40 in January and is a free agent this offseason, is one of the oldest players in the NBA. However, despite his age, he showed last season and last playoffs that he can still compete with the best of them.

During the regular season with the Memphis Grizzlies, he played more games and averaged more minutes than he did in the two previous seasons with the team. Also, he averaged more points and rebounds, and his shooting percentage was up too.

As for the playoffs, he started the entire six-game series against the San Antonio Spurs (which the Grizzlies lost) and played more than 32 minutes a game.

Carter can clearly still play. But can he make this type of contribution if he were on a stacked team like the Warriors?
