Otto Porter had a breakout season in 2016-17, and here are five teams he could land with in free agency.

After struggling to find his way consistently over his first three NBA seasons, Otto Porter had a breakout season for the Washington Wizards in 2016-17. He set career-highs across the board, most notably in points (13.4) and rebounds (6.4) per game, but the Georgetown product also set career-high in field goal percentage (51.6), free throw percentage (83.2) and 3-point percentage (43.4). That rate of makes from beyond the arc was good for fourth in the league among those that had enough attempts to qualify.

Porter will be a restricted free agent, with a qualifying offer of $7.4 million coming to him from the Wizards barring something unforeseen. The Wizards have the right to match any offer sheet he gets from another team, but it’s easy to see Porter getting too expensive to be retained.

Porter can become a primary player on another team, with the salary to match. With that in mind, here are five potential destinations for Porter once free agency gets rolling.

5. Sacramento Kings

The Kings are going to lose Rudy Gay after he opted out of his contract, which leaves them with a 18.7 points per game scoring void to fill from last season. They are set to have plenty of salary cap space, particularly after releasing shooting guard Aaron Afflalo before his full $11 million for next season became guaranteed.

If Sacramento wants Porter to come in and become their No.1 scorer, they can come with an offer that will be tough for Washington to match. A solid draft haul could even make the Kings a desirable destination going forward, despite consistent mismanagement at the top of the organization.
