Les Miles reportedly has interest in the job at Ole Miss, and here are five reasons he should take it.

In the midst of an NCAA investigation, and a lawsuit filed by former coach Houston Nutt against the school revealing a troubling phone call, Hugh Freeze resigned as Ole Miss football head coach last week. Offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Matt Luke has been elevated to interim head coach for the 2017 season, but a search for Freeze’s long-term replacement will come and could already be starting on some level.

Former LSU head coach Les Miles landed on a bunch of immediate lists of candidates for the Ole Miss job. Familiarity with the SEC and a solid record of success in the conference makes Miles an easy candidate, and it can be assumed he wants to coach again after not finding a good fit for this year.

All things considered, it’s not surprising Miles reportedly has interest in the job at Ole Miss. Dan Wolken of USA Today suggests Miles’ interest is known to the “money people” at the school, though Ole Miss should not carry a buyout burden attached to Freeze.

Ole Miss is sure to face some sort of NCAA penalty down the road, but here at five reasons Miles should take the job.

5. Post-Game Pressers

Miles is set to do television work during the coming season. He will surely provide entertainment and quotable moments, along with some (hopefully astute) football analysis.

But “The Mad Hatter” was consistently post-game press conference gold at LSU, with too many funny and passionate quotes to cite individually. The longer he’s not coaching, the longer we have to go without that. So we need Miles back on the sideline in 2018, at least for entertainment purposes after games.
