Chris Bosh clearly knows how to function in the shadow of LeBron James, and he has spoken on the situation with Kyrie Irving.

When LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade with the Miami Heat in 2011, Bosh faced the biggest adjustment. A five-time All-Star with the Toronto Raptors, Bosh saw his role change and his shot attempts reduced. But someone had to sacrifice, and Bosh got two rings for his trouble.

Fast forward to now, and Kyrie Irving wants the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade him. He apparently wants to be the main man on a new team, and wants to be out from under the shadow of James. The nearly constant passive-aggressive drama around James has ramped up again, with conflicting ideas as to whether he does or doesn’t want Irving gone, workouts with a player mentioned in Irving trade talks and the top of the organization trying to play the situation cool.

Barring something unforeseen, Bosh’s playing career is over due to health concerns. But TMZ Sports caught up with him recently, and of course asked him about the LeBron-Kyrie drama.

Bosh put it in very simple terms, telling James and Irving to “Work it out, man.” When further asked about respecting Irving’s desire to be “his own man,” Bosh added, “Absolutely, that’s what we all want, right?”

Bosh co-existed as a third fiddle on a successful team about as well as anyone could have in today’s NBA. There were never any public indications he wanted to be traded, and he surely didn’t get into a battle of egos with James, who is still a close friend. Kevin Love has struggled to consistently find his place since being traded to the Cavaliers, amid off-and-on trade rumors, and now Irving’s ego is getting in the way of comfortably being second fiddle to James. The more time passes, the more appreciation we’ll get for how Bosh fit in with no drama alongside James.
