2012 NBA Draft Grades: Bulls Select Marquis Teague
Pick 29: Chicago Bulls
Selection: Marquis Teague
Bryan Rosa – A Royal Pain
Derrick Rose insurance, anyone? Teague, a solid point from Kentucky who’s a great quarterback for an NBA offense will be a fantastic role player for the Bulls down the road. Great speed and quickness with great penetrating skills. Needs a bit more shot skills, but, in a few years he’ll be a solid NBA player.
Grade: B+
Bryan Wendland-Roberto Gato
The Bulls found out the hard way what happens when your number one guard goes down in the playoffs. Teague is a great pick and he’ll be a great backup to Derrick Rose, who will undoubtedly help the former Wildcat grow into a solid pro. The Bulls had a need and they filled it with this pick.
Grade: A
Jack Winter-Saving the Skyhook
The Bulls needed a short-term replacement for Derrick Rose, and Teague fits that bill as a point guard. He’s going to have a rough adjustment to the NBA after an up-and-down freshman year at Kentucky, so it’s likely he won’t help the Bulls much next season. He’ll develop into a solid player, but Chicago doesn’t necessarily want to wait for him to do so. With that in mind, the more established Tyshawn Taylor might have been a better pick.
Grade: C+
Quixem Ramirez- Air Alamo
Teague is an aggressive point guard that can score relatively well. He should’ve stayed another year as he needs to work on his cadence. Teague only plays at one speed, warp speed, and thus turns the ball over quite a bit. Still, Chicago made a nice pick considering Derrick Rose won’t be back anytime soon.
