Top 10 Waiver Wire Targets – Week 10

Hello there Fantasy Footballers! It’s time to find those precious gems among the Waiver Wire for Week 10. Studs like Aaron Rodgers, Trent Richardson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Robert Griffin III will be taking a rest this week. The same goes for surprises like Andre Roberts, Josh Gordon, Randall Cobb, and Alfred Morris.

Week 9 in the NFL was chock full of offense and points. There were some incredible individual performances. I have to tip my cap to Doug Martin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. WHAT A WEEK! 25 carries for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns. Oh, and he also caught 4 pass for 21 yards. No big deal.

Hats off to Brandon Marshall and Mikel Leshoure as well for what they did. Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Roddy White and Julio Jones also get an “Oh no you didn’t!” from me.

That’s enough gushing. Seriously, there are other guys that can and will produce for you in Week 10 and without further ado, let’s meet those guys!

Byes: Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins

1. Brandon Myers, TE, Oakland Raiders– Owned in 7.1% of leagues (ESPN) Since Oakland’s bye week in Week 5, Myers has caught 23 passes for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s emerged as the other consistent option for Carson Palmer (behind Denarius Moore.) A big guy who has touchdown potential every time the Raiders are in the red zone. The problem there is that the Raiders need to get into the red zone more consistently but I still believe Myers has great upside.

2. Jermaine Gresham, TE, Cincinnati Bengals – Owned in 56.9% of leagues (ESPN) Still available in slightly over 40% of leagues, Jermaine Gresham is becoming a top ten TE talent. This past week, at home, vs. Denver Gresham caught 6 balls for 108 yards. Great all-around game but owners were probably hoping for that all-important touchdown as well. It may not happen with Gresham as he’s only scored twice all season. But, he’s great with yards after the catch especially for a big guy. His yardage should continue to pile up.

3. Golden Tate, WR, Seattle Seahawks – Owned in 7.3% of leagues (ESPN) The Golden Child. His stats in the last two weeks are 11 passes caught for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. This kid is a tough and somewhat elusive receiver plus he’s got the confidence of his quarterback. I will probably try and nab him especially since Larry Fitzgerald is on bye this week.

4. T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts– Owned in 0.7% of leagues (ESPN) This is one of many rookie playmakers on the Colts that will make them a dangerous team a bit further down the line. This kid is fast and he’s got good hands. He had 6 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in Week 9. In Week 10, Indy travels to Jacksonville to face the lowly Jags. Last time these two teams met back in Week 3, T.Y. Had 4 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. I mean, I’m just saying.

5. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers – Owned in 1.6% of leagues (ESPN) Antonio Brown left the Steelers/Giants game in Week 9 with a foot injury. If he’s to miss any time with the injury then Sanders reaps immediate benefits. Not only are he and Brown mirror images, physically, on the football field but Sanders can flat out play. He’s had a very quiet year averaging around 3 catches and 35 yards a contest but has all the ability to break out if time permits.

6. Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins – Owned in 6.6% of leagues (ESPN) Ryan Tannehill may actually have a missile launcher in his right arm. He was 22-38 for 290 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against Indy. He has proven that he can throw for 400 yards in the NFL (as a rookie, no less) and he threw for almost 300 on Sunday. The words are there. The positive that I take away is that he has gone four straight games without throwing an interception. Me likey no turnovers!

7. Vick Ballard, RB, Indianapolis Colts – Owned in 45.2% of leagues (ESPN) Since taking over as the starter for the injured Donald Brown in Week 7, Ballard has had 48 carries for 199 yards and 5 catches for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. He’s a great flex option in most leagues and should continue to help your team out when Indy visits Jacksonville this weekend. The Jaguars gave up 143 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns to Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell in Week 9.

8. Davone Bess, WR, Miami Dolphins– Owned in 7.3% of leagues (ESPN) Bess is Miami’s most consistent option at WR. He’s not high-risk, high-reward like Brian Hartline (you never know when his next big game is!) With Bess, he will give you 4-6 catches for 40-50 yards and maybe a touchdown. I know those aren’t stellar numbers but he’s consistent and sometimes that’s all you need week to week.

9. Chris Givens, WR, St. Louis Rams – Owned in 2.8% of leagues (ESPN) It has been reported that Danny Amendola will be back this week for the St. Louis Rams. In his absence, Brandon Gibson and Chris Givens have benefited greatly. Givens’ stats were to the tune of only 11 catches for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns. We call this guy the Deep Threat. Amendola does it all but with the development of Givens, Amendola should serve as the possession receiver (especially if he’s not 100%.)

10. Taiwan Jones, RB, Oakland Raiders– Owned in 2.6% of leagues (ESPN) Darren McFadden has been sidelined with a high ankle sprain. Mike Goodson is also out with an ankle injury. That leaves the Raider backfield in the hands of Taiwan Jones. Who? He’s only got 1 carry for 2 yards on the season. He’s also has the Ravens defense in Baltimore in Week 10. The thing here though is that the Ravens have allowed multiple 100 yard rushers this season including Trent Richardson this past week. Jones does not have much game tape for the Ravens to game plan. This can only help him. He’s worth a look in very deep leagues especially those who own Run DMC.
