Well, finally the quarreling, backstabbing, and name-calling is over with. No, I’m not talking about the Lohan family reunion. The NHL strike has ended, just in time to save the season. A 48 or 50-game schedule is planned, to begin on January 19th. That doesn’t leave much time to research and rank players in preparation for your fantasy season. Never fear, you have me to do the dirty work ! My rankings are projected for a 7×3 category scoring system, as is used in standard ESPN leagues ( goals, assists, plus-minus, power-play points, shots on goal, penalty minutes, average-time-on-ice, goalie wins, goals-against-average, and save percentage ). While making my assessments, I consider player potential, past performance, linemates, and injury concerns. This is just one guy’s opinion, but it should give you a good start in putting together your winning team. I think it is very important to get a stud goalie ( or two ), and I may rank some a bit higher than other pundits do, in an effort to secure an elite one. Use this as a guide and also gamble on your own favorite players, if you choose. For instance, I always give Mike Fisher extra consideration, simply for snagging Carrie Underwood. Here are my top-100 fantasy players to consider, while the season quickly approaches…..
