Dallas Stars to Offer Free Tickets to Games for Kids
By Josh Hill
The NHL schedule is expected to be released on Saturday, with most teams putting single game tickets on sale Sunday. While we don’t know exactly who’s playing who for the 42 games season ahead of us, we do know one thing: if you’re a kid and you’re a Dallas Stars fan, you’re going to see the games for free.
Late Friday night the Dallas Stars officially announced their ‘Free Tickets for Kids’ program, which offers free tickets to any child 12 years of age or under with the purchase of an adult single game ticket.
Many NHL teams are having to roll up their sleeves and bite the bullet when it comes to generous offers to fans. After the lockout sliced up a large portion of the season, franchises everywhere are beginning to try and make fans offers they can’t refuse. The Pittsburgh Penguins will be having a free food program, and many teams are offering steep discounts on team merchandise.
But the Dallas Stars, taking a page out of the Nashville Predator’s books, will be offering free tickets to games. They’ve partnered with 7-11 to offer fans the deal, which will run from January through February.
The Stars issued a press release to officially announce the offer:
"The Dallas Stars have teamed up with 7-Eleven to create the “Kids Free” Ticket Promotion, a new program for Stars home games allowing children ages 12 and younger to receive free tickets with the purchase of a full price ticket. The offer is an online promotion allowing easy access to “Kids Free” tickets with no processing fees.“We wanted to do something special in this shortened season to provide an opportunity for families to see the Dallas Stars live and in person,” Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said. “Our organization is committed to growing the game of hockey in North Texas and providing the best fan experience in professional sports. We hope this program is a great way to kick start the season.”Full price tickets purchased in qualifying sections of the American Airlines Center for any January or February home game will be eligible for the “Kids Free” Ticket Offer. Fans can visit DallasStars.com and click the “Kids Free” Ticket Offer logo on the front page of the website to purchase tickets."
Single game tickets will go on sale Sunday for the Dallas Stars and it’s expected that most other teams will also put tickets up for sale on this day as well.
