The St. Louis Rams have an interesting decision on their hands when it comes to wide receiver Danny Amendola. With the franchise deadline coming at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Rams are not expected to tag Amendola but they are considering other options.
The two options the Rams have to keep Amendola are signing him to a long-term deal or using the transition tag, which would pay Amendola $8.867 million and give the Rams the right to match any offer.
Using the transition tag on Amendola would save the team a little more money than the $10.537 million franchise tag.
The most interesting rumor making the rounds comes from Adam Caplan, who hints that the team could attempt to apply the transition tag on Amendola as a tight end which is an interesting idea. The idea comes from the recent evolvement of the tight end position that has tight ends lining up in the slot on a more consistent basis.
Whatever the Rams decide to to do, it looks like they are committed to finding a way to lock up Amendola for the long-term but they are running out of time to make a decision.
