The Denver Broncos have apparently convinced Elvis Dumervil to change his tune over wanting more money and the defensive end is now willing to take the pay cut he initially refused to take earlier in the weekend. The Broncos thought they were going to have to either cut or trade Dumervil if he wasn’t going take a pay cut but it appears as though the two sides can now be friends again.

But while he’s willing to take a pay cut, that doesn’t guarantee that he’ll able to reach a deal with the team that keeps him in Denver as his $12 million will have to be severely reduced. So even though he’s starting to come around to the idea of playing in Denver at a reduced salary, the fact of the matter remains he may still end up hitting the open market.

If he does hit the open market, he will instantly become one of the most sought after defensive ends, but Dumervil wouldn’t hit the market until at least late Tuesday after teams have already made their initially free agency push. Dumervil wanted to be cut before Tuesday if he was indeed going to be cut by the Broncos in order to avoid missing the initial market but that never happened and Dumervil’s tune may be changing out of desperation more than it is out of love for the Broncos.
