When the clock struck 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers trade for quarterback Alex Smith became official, but the Chiefs weren’t done acquiring quarterbacks just yet.

Kansas City was able to outbid the New York Jets and sign former New Orleans Saints backup signal-caller Chase Daniel to a multi-year deal.

Daniel joined the league as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins, but was released in the final round of roster cuts. He then signed with New Orleans to back up Drew Brees.

With the signing of Daniel, the Chiefs will likely attempt to trade Matt Cassell before ultimately releasing him.
