New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Engaged in Trade Talks For Darrelle Revis
By Josh Sanchez
The New York Jets are working hard to trade star cornerback Darrelle Revis and they could have a couple of teams interested in becoming trade partners to take the headache off of the team’s hands. Per ESPN New York, the Jets are engaged in trade talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one other team that has not yet been named.
Here is the report from ESPN New York:
"The Jets have engaged in trade talks with at least two teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to league sources. It’s unclear if the discussions are serious — no trade appears imminent — but the fact the Jets are talking to teams suggests Revis’ days in New York could be numbered. Revis receives a $1 million roster bonus if he’s still with the Jets on Saturday."
The Buccaneers are also a clear favorite to land top free agent safety Dashon Goldson.
If Tampa Bay could find a way to land Goldson and Revis in the same offseason, their secondary would immediately improve leaps and bounds.
Revis will be looking for a new deal when he finds a new team and the contract numbers are likely what is holding up any deal. In terms of compensation, it appears that the Jets could be getting a second-round pick in return for their All-Pro defensive back.
