The Kansas City Chiefs are going bananas in free agency so far and they are showing no signs of slowing down. After splurging already in the first hours of free agency yesterday, the Chiefs are ready to go back at it today and are hosting free agent wide receiver Donnie Avery.

The Chiefs have already signed Anthony Fasano and after working out a deal with Dwayne Bowe before free agency began, they appear to be loading up on offensive weapons for new starting quarterback Alex Smith. Avery has spent some quality time with the St. Louis Rams and Indianapolis Colts, showing flashes while working with Sam Bradford and Andrew Luck over recent years.
If the Chiefs do indeed sign Avery, he’ll join an offense that is slowly starting to turn into one of the more solid units in the NFL. Many believe that Luke Joeckel or Eris Fisher will be the first overall pick for the Chiefs in the draft, meaning Alex Smith will have the protection he needs to potentially make Avery into a star in Kansas City.
No deal has reportedly been offered and the two sides are just talking at this point, but a guy like Avery isn’t bound to have too many suitors which means the Chiefs are lining themselves up to make another solid signing this offseason.
