There is no secret that free agent tackle Jake Long is visiting St. Louis and could sign with the Rams if he gets a clean bill of health following the team physical, but there is also a strong chance that the signing of Long could signal the end of the road for their own offensive tackle.
Per Bob Glauber of Newsday:
Potential fallout in event Rams sign Jake Long as left tackle: Incumbent LT Rodger Saffold likely will ask for trade.

The Rams would be able to get some decent compensation for Saffold, who the team selected with the first pick in the second-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. St. Louis covets Saffold and views him as a solid starter, so it will be interesting to see if the possibility of losing him could stop them from signing Jake Long.
Of course, the Rams would have to agree to trading Saffold, and that just doesn’t appear to be very likely.
