Now that any hopes of re-signing defensive end Elvis Dumervil are gone with him signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, the Denver Broncos will be turning their attention to another veteran pass rusher on the open market. According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the Broncos will now be turning their attention to former Indianapolis Colts defensive end/outside linebacker Dwight Freeney and former Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham.

Klis wrote:

Freeney has been linked to the team since it was clear he would not be returning to the Colts. The obvious connection between Freeney and his former longtime Indianapolis teammate and current Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning fueled the initial speculation. It was confirmed that the Broncos would pursue Freeney when Manning openly campaigned and recruited his former pal.

While there is interest in both Freeney and Abraham, you would have to anticipate Freeney having the inside track because of his close relationship with the team’s star signal-caller.
