Andrew Bynum No-Shows For Philadelphia 76ers Team Picture
By Josh Sanchez
When you look at the Philadelphia 76ers player statistics for the season, you could very easily forget that the team was involved in a deal that brought Andrew Bynum to the City of Brotherly Love last offseason. Now, to cap it all off, you won’t even know Bynum was on the team when you look at the team picture for this season.
Bynum’s absence in the box score can be explained by the knee injury that has kept him sidelined all season, but his absence in the team photo will be harder to explain.
Bynum’s jersey was hanging in his locker, but he never showed up for the photo op. That’s right, Bynum was a no-show.
Per John Finger of CSNPhilly.com:
"Though there were a lot of different faces in this year’s photo, there were two that were conspicuous by their absences. One was Jason Richardson, who was rehabbing his surgically-repaired knee. The other was Andrew Bynum, who also is rehabbing his knees in New York City. Though his uniform was hung in his locker, Bynum did not make the trip to Philly to smile for the camera.Without Bynum in the team picture it was as if he wasn’t even here at all."
Bynum is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it is very likely that the only memory of his time with the team that 76ers fans will have is his ridiculous hair-dos that graced the bench.
There would be no reason for the 76ers to consider bringing Bynum back next season and it doesn’t look like Bynum has much interest being in Philadelphia, either. A split is just around the corner.
