There has been a ton of hype in recent days over what the New York Jets will be doing with their two first-round draft picks. Many believe they will be targeting either Ryan Nassib or Geno Smith with one of the picks, but according to ESPN New York, the buzz around the league is that New York will wait until the second round to draft a signal caller.

ESPN New York reporter Rich Cimini blasted the quarterback draft class this year and said the John Idzik may end up waiting until the second day to figure out who he wants taking over for Mark Sanchez.

"The Jets, who own the ninth and 13th picks in the first round, were “raving” about Smith after their pro-day visit, according to a source. They also like Syracuse’s Ryan Nassib, but the buzz around the league is that GM John Idzik won’t take a quarterback in Round 1. Maybe you’ve heard, this isn’t a great draft for quarterbacks. The Class of ’13 has absorbed more dings than a New York taxi."

Quarterbacks have seen their value go all over the place this year and many are still a mystery. Ryan Nassib has fluctuated from a third round pick to a top ten selection. Geno Smith may end up going as high as the Jacksonville Jaguars or Oakland Raiders but could also plummet to the bottom of the first round. E.J. Manuel is a guy who has burst onto the scene in the last few weeks and guys like Matt Barkley and Tyler Wilson are rising and falling with every passing minute.

The Jets are one of a few teams that could man up and take a quarterback in round one after months of flirting about it. But New York has two high first-round picks and a high second round pick which means a quarterback doesn’t have to be the first thing they select in the draft.
