Zach Randolph Ejected In Final Seconds of Grizzlies Game 6 Win (Video)
By Josh Hill
The Memphis Grizzlies pulled off a huge victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, eliminating Los Angeles and setting themselves up for a rematch with the Oklahoma City Thunder. But things got strange down the stretch of the game and we had two quick ejections in the final seconds of a game that was clearly over.
First Clippers point guard Chris Paul was tossed and soon after Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph was tossed from the game as well. Understandably, Randolph had more fun with his exit from the building than Paul did, as on his way out Randolph flicked his headband into the crowd and proceeded to pump them up even more-so than they already were.
There are a number of interesting things to take from this, so let’s list them like obedient sports fans, as we don’t need anymore ejections from this situation.
- It’s a miracle of the universe that two players were ejected in the final seconds of the game and neither were Matt Barnes.
- Speaking of Mr. Barnes, he certainly displayed a lot of character for the way he handled the situation as he showed how well he can keep his cool.
- Vinny Del Negro may think he’s a tough guy, walking Randolph off as he stares him down, but the reality is he’s about to lose his job so the tough guy act is a really not needed here.
- The Clippers have no class, as demonstrated by the hissy fit they threw after it was clear they were getting eliminated. We really expect better out of Chris Paul.
Basically, it was the best way to end the series, as it funneled all the frustration the Clippers were feeling and put it on display in the scope of a situation. It was bizarre, it was confusing, a little uncomfortable and Matt Barnes was somehow not a factor — which is exactly how the Clippers playoff series went this year and personifies their frustrating existence.
