The Boston Celtics couldn’t get it done against the Knicks in the NBA Playoffs, so now they’re stuck watching the postseason from home. But while most guys are getting ready for next year, the big question around town is whether or not we’ve seen the last of Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in Boston.
While Rives and Pierce could go either way, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said that he’s going to have a chat with Garnett next week to feel out his intentions, but he fully expects the future Hall of Famer to inform him he’s coming back for the 2013-14 season.
“I’ll touch base with him some time next week,” Ainge said, via WEEI’s Ben Rohrbach. “He needs time to chill and contemplate his life. I do anticipate he will play.”
Garnett has made his stay in Boston memorable in every way, from helping bring a title back to town to becoming a staple in the team’s lore. But the questions about his future with the team have been nagging at fans since the trade deadline when rumors swirled that he was on his way to the Los Angeles Clippers.
But the Celtics held onto Garnett and it appears that if he’s willing, they’ll welcome him back with open arms and be sure to hang onto him for at least one more season.
