Andre Drummond put together a highly successful rookie season, even though it did have its ups and downs. This summer, the Detroit Pistons’ young center will look to work on his flawed offensive game and is expected to turn to none other than Hakeem Olajuwon.

Over the last couple of years, Olajuwon has spent parts of his summer teaching NBA players some of his highly regarded post moves. Even contemporary superstars such as Dwight Howard and LeBron James have spent time with arguably the greatest offensive center in the history of the game, in order to develop a well-rounded offensive game.

According to USA Today Sports, Drummond intends to follow in the footsteps of the two stars and seek some assistance from the legendary center. If you judge James’ improvement in the post, it is understandable why other young players want to go through the same training. LeBron has become an extremely dangerous player with his back to the basket, and some of that can certainly be credited to his training sessions with Olajuwon.

Drummond’s athleticism was on full display in his first season, and he was very efficient, posting a player efficiency rating of 21.69. His offense is still very raw and quite one-dimensional, but if he can become a legitimate threat in the post, the Pistons could soon have one of the scariest frontcourts in the NBA in Drummond and Greg Monroe.
