The Denver Broncos are meeting with free agent cornerback Charles Woodson today, and it’s becoming clear that if he leaves without a contract he likely won’t be back. But if Woodson leaves Denver without a deal, while he won’t be back to Denver he would theoretically stay in the AFC West as Josina Anderson reports that the Oakland Raiders have extended an “initial contract offer” to Woodson that would return him to the team he broke though with so many years ago.
So the Raiders are upping the ante a little bit sending an initial offer for Charles Woodson already, but do the dollars make sense?

Golden Gate Sports reported on news that Woodson is no longer being considered by the Raiders’ Bay Area rival, the San Francisco 49ers which opens the door for Oakland to jump to the top of a short list of teams looking to sign Woodson.
But this contract offer will likely mean little if the Broncos pull out a contract and offer it to the free agent veteran. While signing with Oakland would bring Woodson’s career full circle, as Woodson was drafted by the Raiders back in 1998 and he played there until 2005, signing with Denver would place Woodson in the best possible position to win another Super Bowl and possibly retire on the top of his game.
Denver remains the best fit to date for Woodson, but if things don’t work out for him there it’s not like he’ll have to search far and long for a team looking to sign him.
