There is a lot of interest in the fate of Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro heading in to the offseason. Immediately after the team was eliminated in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs by the Memphis Grizzlies, there was some chatter that Del Negro would not be brought back after winning a franchise record 56 wins during the regular season. Earlier this week, there was another report that the team was considering the option of bringing him back.

Quite frankly, only team owner Donald Sterling has any idea what Del Negro’s fate will hold and it looks like the two will meet early next week as they decide what the best option is moving forward.

Per Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com:

"Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has scheduled to meet with head coach Vinny Del Negro over the weekend to discuss Del Negro’s fate with the organization, a league source informed CSNNW.com.According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, says the two will meet in Los Angeles and a decision is anticipated shortly after."

It will be interesting to see what happens on the Del Negro front next week during the meeting.

Sterling will likely want to keep Del Negro, but it could come down to whether or not stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin want to play for Del Negro or another coach moving forward.
