It looks as though the Phoenix Suns’ search for a head coach is coming to an end, as the front-runner for the job, Jeff Hornacek, has been offered the position.

Hornacek recently became the primary candidate for the vacant head coaching position, and according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the two parties will work on finalizing the deal this weekend. However, figuring out the details seems like a formality at this point, as Hornacek and the Suns have already started looking for an assistant coaching staff.

The 50-year-old Hornacek played the first six years of his professional career for the Suns, and he is well-known in the community.

Phoenix still has quite a few bad contracts, but will look to rebuild through the draft. Considering the current situation of the franchise, it is perhaps no surprise that the team hired Ryan McDonough as GM and now take on Hornacek who does not have head coaching experience. With a young GM at the helm and a head coach with limited experience, patience will be key for the Suns, but at least the direction of the franchise is clear.

Before taking on the assignment with the Suns, Hornacek was an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz.
