Giants Angel Pagan Out Today

The San Francisco Giants will be without center fielder Angel Pagan for today’s Bay Area, interleague rivalry game against the Oakland Athletics. The news comes to us from Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News, who tells us that Pagan is suffering from a hamstring injury. I doubt Pagan ends up on the disabled list as a result of the injury, because he reportedly suffered it before his incredible inside-the-park walk-off home run on Saturday. I mean, that right there was the play of the season. Pagan deserves the rest, but we’ll hope to see him back in the Giants lineup as soon as possible.

Pagan also did not play yesterday for the Giants due to what is being termed as a mild hamstring strain, and Pavlovic actually reported yesterday that Giants manager Bruce Bochy hoped for Pagan’s return today. That hasn’t materialized, but I have a feeling we’ll see Pagan back to face the A’s at some point later on in this rivalry series which begins today.

This season, the 31-year-old OF has ten doubles, 30 runs, and 24 RBIs, but he also has a low .314 OBP and has an OPS of just .688. Still, you can’t shake off that incredible walk-off inside-the-park homer against the division rival Colorado Rockies, especially since he apparently did it while suffering from a recently strained hamstring. But, then again, the injury usually feels worse the day after as opposed to during the game; but hey, it was still a remarkable feat regardless of the semantics. How often has that happened in history?
