The Jacksonville Jaguars are sweating it out this afternoon as news that Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew was arrested in connection to an assault on a security guard in a Florida night club. The team issued the standard statement saying they’re gathering information but Jones-Drew’s agent Adisa Bakari is saying that no charges will be filed against his client and that local police are about to revise their report stating the running back was charged with a crime.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bakari says Jones-Drew was present at the incident but was in no way involved with the assault on the security guard and he left as soon as fists started to fly.

“Maurice was there and was not involved,” Bakari said about Jones-Drew’s involvement, via Adam Schefter. “As soon as an altercation broke out, Maurice exited the premises.”
TMZ first reported that Jones-Drew was arrested and charged after the assault on a security guard but the story is still changing and taking shape.
The situation is still unfolding and the information is still coming in but this could have been a case where a conclusion was jumped to. Remember, TMZ reported that Lil’ Wayne was essentially dead when he was hospitalized last month and that rumor turned out to be more morbid than it was factual. There’s no denying that Jones-Drew was arrested and initially charged but if Bakari isn’t blowing smoke to cool off the Jaguars, it’s sounding like the charges will be adjusted and the situation won’t be as serious as first thought.
