The Minnesota Vikings are hoping they can repeat the success they had in 2012 when they came out of virtually nowhere to earn a spot in the NFC Wild Card round. The team has a different look than it usually does but the team that played down the stretch last year and made the playoffs is largely intact. Percy Harvin was on IR at the time so his absence won’t be as aggressively felt as some think but there’s still a lot of question marks at the wide receiver position that need answering in OTAs.
One of those answers may be the guy Vikings fans were calling for to replace Christian Ponder last year. Joe Webb was converted to a wide receiver this offseason and so far the move has been going better than his Wild Card relief performance at quarterback.
According to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500, Webb is “catching everything” at Vikings camp and showing a lot of promise as a receiver.
Heard this: Joe Webb has caught everything in workouts. Hands aren't an issue. It's learning everything else. OTAs ramp that up. #Vikings

Webb was constantly being called upon by Vikings fans who remember only his few good starts over the last few years. But Webb showed that he’s not cut out to be a solid backup in the Vikings system and with the arrival of Matt Cassel, Webb is better suited as a wide receiver.
So far the move looks to be a good one and if the Vikings can get another speedy target for Ponder, the better off they’ll be in 2013.
