He’s a Grammy winning country music star but Kenny Chesney made a visit to a team up in the Pacific Northwest on Friday. While you’d think a country music singer would visit the Dallas Cowboys, Cheseny dropped by Seattle Seahawks practice, kicked off the cowboy boots and threw on a helmet to go to work with the team.
Chesney was in Seattle preparing for a concert he held on June 1st at CentrutyLink Field and apparently took head coach Pete Carroll up on an offer he made a few years ago to come and work out with his team.
“I met Pete a couple years ago,” Kenny explained to Country Weekly. “We kept in touch, and he asked me if I’d like to work out with the team.”
Chesney actually blended right in when he hit the field with the Seahawks as he ran routes and caught passes from Russell Wilson. He’s not going to be coming for Percy Harvin’s new job anytime soon, but Chesney didn’t look like your typical music star who goofs around at team practices.
“To feel the intensity of an NFL training camp and out to be out there running those drills,” Chesney said. “You get a sense of how much focus and heart goes into preparing to do what they’re going to do all season.”
